The short version. If you are a homeowner using this site to check a license, we do not ask for your name, email, or phone, and we have nothing to sell about you. If you are a contractor who buys verification, we collect what we need to verify you and publish your page — and nothing else. We do not sell anyone’s personal information to anyone, ever.
1. Who we are

2. If you are a homeowner using the free tools
The license lookup directory, the hiring checklist, and the educational content require no account, no email address, and no personal information. There are no lead-capture forms on this site. We do not build homeowner profiles, and we do not sell, rent, or share homeowner contact information — there is none to sell.
When you click through to a state licensing agency, you leave our site and that agency’s own privacy practices apply. We have no control over and no visibility into what you search there.
3. If you are a contractor who purchases verification
To verify you and publish your page, we collect:
- your name and business name;
- your email address and phone number;
- your license or registration number and state;
- the certificate of insurance you send us, including carrier, limits, and policy dates; and
- records of what we checked and when.
We do not collect or store your full payment card number. Payments are processed by Stripe, which handles card data directly under its own privacy policy. We see only the last four digits, the card brand, and whether the payment succeeded.
4. How we use it
- To perform the verification you paid for and to re-check it periodically.
- To publish your verification page — which shows your business name, trade, license status, check date, and that insurance is on file. Your certificate of insurance itself is never published, and neither is your email address or personal phone number unless you ask us to list a business contact.
- To contact you about your verification, missing documents, renewal reminders, and lapses.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not send marketing unrelated to your verification unless you opt in.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate — principally our payment processor (Stripe), our email and hosting providers — and only as needed to do their job. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to prevent fraud or harm.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
If we suspect a licensing or insurance document is fraudulent, we may report it to the relevant licensing board, insurer, or authorities. That is described in our Terms of Service.
6. How long we keep it
We keep verification records and the documents supporting them for as long as your subscription is active and for up to seven (7) years afterward, so we can substantiate what we verified and when. We keep transaction records as long as required for tax and accounting purposes. You may ask us to delete information we are not required to retain.
7. Your choices
- Access and correction. Email us to see or correct the information we hold about you.
- Deletion. Email us to request deletion, subject to the retention periods above.
- Cancellation. Cancel your subscription anytime; see the Terms.
- Messages. If you send documents by text or WhatsApp, we use that number only to handle your verification. Reply STOP to opt out of any messages from us.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy law, including the right to know what we collect and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of — but you may still contact us to exercise any right.
8. Cookies and analytics
This site is static HTML. It sets no advertising cookies, runs no third-party trackers, and loads no external scripts or fonts. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting. Stripe’s checkout pages, which are hosted on Stripe’s own domain, use their own cookies under their policy.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Verification documents are stored in access-controlled accounts. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we limit what we collect precisely so that there is less to lose.
10. Children
This is a service for businesses and adult homeowners. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a revised date, and active subscribers will be notified by email.
